A word from our chief instructor about grading:

Please refer to the table below for minimum number of classes and time between grades.

A student will often focus on changing their colour belt as soon as possible. Do not worry if this does not happen as fast as you may be expecting. Remember it is a recommended minimum of three months between full grades, this is based on students training at least twice per week (for mid to higher grades). The majority of students will not grade every 3 months, especially as they approach the mid and higher belts. Talk to (and more importantly trust) your instructor, he/she is there to help YOU achieve YOUR goals. Do not look sideways at other students but concentrate on your own improvement. The only person you are in competition with is YOURSELF. Black belts can come quicker to some than others, I can assure you that you will get there, as long as you don't quit ! I have no doubt that every Black belt will tell you that the wait (however long) was worth the successful Black belt grading.

Please see Grading dates for the forthcoming year ahead and

use the following link for grading requirements:

Number of Classes/Time Required for Grading

A number of students have asked the minimum time and number of classes before they are entitled to attempt their next grade. Please note the requirement set out in your licence books is a recommended MINIMUM and realistically most students should not expect to grade every time after meeting the minimum requirements.

Seminars often count as 2 classes and are a great way to improve your karate and speed up the time to your next grading.

For the green belt students (and above) who are attending extended training class (where available), each extended class counts as 1.5 classes towards your next grading.

As you get to Purple and above, it obviously gets harder and requires more training and commitment. Times start to vary between grades, your instructor is there to help and heed his (or her) advice.

I look forward to seeing you at your next grading and in the meantime, if you have any questions please feel free to ask your instructor or I can be contacted direct by Clicking here
